Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan Dish on Their Chemistry and Tease ‘Hot Frosty 2’
From ‘Hot Frosty’ costars to real friends—how Chabert and Milligan built a bond that goes deeper
Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan stole people’s hearts after their romcom Hot Frosty debuted on Netflix last Christmas, and while there isn’t any sequel news yet, the two did recently team up for a five-episode miniseries, Maybe This Christmas, which was sponsored by Maybelline New York. To celebrate that, Woman’s World has decided to look back at Chabert and Milligan’s friendship and discover if they would ever be open to a Hot Frosty 2. Scroll on for more.
A look at Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan’s friendship
Chabert, age 43, and Milligan, age 40, met while filming the 2024 Netflix film Hot Frosty. The plot follows a widow named Kathy Barrett (Chabert) after she magically brings a snowman named Jack (Milligan) to life. It’s fun, flirty, a little weird and very cozy.
“We were just so blessed with this cast. Everyone was so incredible, and so down to just play. We were excited because there’s a blooper reel at the end of the movie, which is so rare to even see at all,” Milligan told Screenrant last year. “But we were kind of, like, ‘Yeah, but it could be easily another 25 minutes longer,’ because there’s just so much that we were improvising with each other, and so much breaking. I think it’s a testament to the joy that we had while we were filming, and I think— ideally—that the audience will have in watching it.”

Speaking of joy, one of things viewers loved most about the film was Chabert and Milligan’s undeniable chemistry.
“She [Chabert] was there very much as my partner, my ally, in that specifically where sometimes things would feel not quite so great, and even just with a look between us, I knew that I was allowed to speak up for myself in a way that would just make me more comfortable and make the entire day just run with a little more ease and a little more comfort,” Milligan told Collider last year. “I think that, in turn, allowed for a freer, much more uninhibited performance that I hope made Jack that much more of a stronger character.”
How Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan reunited for the 2025 holiday season
A year after Hot Frosty’s release, Chabert and Milligan teamed up again for a festive-themed miniseries entitled Maybe This Christmas—and while it’s technically a sponsored series, that didn’t stop it from being just as cute and just as cheeky.
“The chance to collaborate on a product that I actually love and then to do that with Dustin was really just a dream,” Chabert told People magazine earlier this month. “I had such a lovely time with him on Hot Frosty last year, and this was such a fun way to tell a holiday story in a new format and to get to be together for a day on set.”
Milligan elaborated on that by saying, “You don’t need me to say the words ‘Queen of Christmas,’ but I will, and I did.”
“Any opportunity where you get to reunite with somebody that you enjoyed working with and actually had an element of joy in the work process, it’s so rare,” he continued. “But then to have that paired with actually doing something and telling a story wherein you get to play with some of the narrative expectations to then land on that twist at the end, to me personally, just selfishly, that brings me even more joy.”
Will there be a ‘Hot Frosty 2’?
While there is no official word on if Netflix will ever make a Hot Frosty 2, Chabert did tell People, “I had so much fun on the movie with you [Milligan], and if we have the chance, I’d be so thrilled and I really hope that is something that happens.”
Also interested? Milligan, who said, “My wife [actress Amanda Crew] and I watch Hallmark movies all the time, and we’re such a fan of the form, but specifically Lacey and her ability to still make it engaging again and again, which is a real feat. That’s a real skill. And so to be able to, in real time, get to experience that and work together—and then also have it be so easy— any opportunity that we get… Maybe it’s going to be, like, Hot Frosty 2: Even Frostier.”
