What we know about Vanna White’s new husband
On Wednesday, January 21 White, age 68, took to Instagram to announce that she had married her longtime love Donaldson, believed to be in his 60s.
“Surprise! We got married,” White captioned the post. “John and I have been in love for more than a decade and a little while back, we wanted to make it official in a private ceremony. We’re excited to share this new joyful chapter in our lives with all of you!”
Prior to their wedding, White and Donaldson—who owns a construction and development company—had kept their relationship pretty private. They met in 2012 at a party, and according to the Wheel of Fortune star, she was instantly captivated by him.
“I remember looking at him and thinking, ‘He’s really cute,’” White told People magazine in 2019. “We ended up talking for a long time that night.”
Following that initial meeting, the pair entered into a relationship with “no drama,” according to her. They went on trips together and he even gave her a nickname!
In a 2024 episode of Wheel of Fortune, White said that Donaldson calls her “‘V-Dubs,” which prompted fans to create an onscreen nickname for her co-host, Ryan Seacrest.
“Since Vanna is known as ‘Vdubs’, Ryan could be called ‘Seadubs’!” one person commented on the Wheel of Fortune Instagram page.
What Vanna White and John Donaldson have said about getting married
In 2023 White told People that she and Donaldson, despite being together for over a decade, hadn’t really discussed getting married.
“We don’t really talk about it, but you never know. I mean, I guess we could, but in my eyes and his eyes, we are married,” White said. “Do we have to get married? No, because we feel comfortable in our relationship. You know what I mean? I know that he’s the one. He knows I’m the one.”
In that same interview White revealed that she views Donaldson as “the male version of me. We really are very similar. We get along so well. He’s easy. He’s easy, and he lets me be me, and I let him be him.”
As of publication, there is no information as to what made the two change their minds about tying the knot. There is also no news on how her kids, Gigi Santo Pietro and Nikko Santo Pietro, are responding to the wedding, but in the past White has shared photos of her kids and Donaldson together.
On January 1, she even posted a holiday photo of the four of them together, with the caption reading “Happy New Year from my family to yours!”
Gigi then went onto comment on the post, writing “Love you!!!”
Prior to Donaldson, White was married to George Santo Pietro from 1992 to 2002.
