If there’s one TV series out there that simply screams 90s nostalgia, it has to be Home Improvement, which aired from 1991 to 1999 on ABC. The hit family sitcom followed the Taylor family, consisting of patriarch Tim (portrayed by Tim Allen), his wife Jill (played by Patricia Richardson), and their sons Mark (Taran Noah Smith), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Brad (Zachary Ty Bryan). Other important pieces of this puzzle were Tim’s pal Al (Richard Karn) and the family’s neighbor, Wilson (Earl Hindman). On each episode, Tim would host his own home improvement show known as Tool Time alongside Al and a special Tool Time girl, but his prowess and skill on his series didn’t often translate to his home life as a husband and father to three sons—two areas where he could tend to fumble. Over two decades since the series came to an end, take a look back at a few rare and behind-the-scenes photos of the Home Improvement cast from when the cameras weren’t rolling.

The coolest ‘Tool Time’ girl there was!

While she was in her early twenties, a young Pam Anderson brought to life the character of Lisa, one of the Tool Time girls on Tim and Al’s home improvement show. The actress made quite the impression on audiences thanks to her beauty and charm, but she said goodbye to the sitcom after two seasons when she got offered a role in the series that would make her a household name: Baywatch.

Allen is seen playing with silly string in this rare photo from the set of Home Improvement. While this is certainly one of his most beloved roles, the actor has had additional success in the sitcom world, having starred in series like Last Man Standing and, most recently, Shifting Gears alongside Kat Dennings.

The Home Improvement cast looks on proudly during filming of the final episode of the series. Did you know this series was filmed in front of a live studio audience? According to Screen Rantthe audience shown during the Tool Time segment of the show was actually the real audience in attendance.

What a crew! While the show wrapped up in 1999 after eight seasons and over 200 episodes, not everyone was in favor of the series ending. As the story goes, Tim Allen was offered a whopping $50 million by network executives, with Richardson offered $25 million to do one last season of the show—but the duo ultimately turned down the offer. Neither actor wanted to stick around simply for the sake of a paycheck.
