Bestselling Book ‘Happy Place’ Is Coming to Netflix! What Author Emily Henry Says About the Adaptation
This swoon-worthy love story is set to air on Netflix, and will be produced by Jennifer Lopez
Calling all romance readers! New York Times number one bestselling author Emily Henry just announced that her beloved and best-selling book Happy Place is going to be turned into a Netflix TV show! To celebrate this happy news, we have gathered up everything there is to know about the Happy Place adaptation, including what Henry thinks.

All about the ‘Happy Place’ Netflix show
The show was officially announced by Henry in her newsletter — which she calls her “Grocery List” — after the news reportedly leaked online.
“Happy Place is going to be a series on Netflix!” the author wrote. “I’ve been dying to tell you about it forever, and there’s actually A LOT more to share very soon, but since this little bit of news leaked today, I wanted to be the one to FORMALLY tell you.”
She continued, “I’m thrilled about this show, and the team behind it. Nuyorican has been so incredibly supportive of and excited about my hopes, dreams, and vision for this show. It’s far from a given in this industry for a writer to get to be closely involved in adaptations of their work, but they (and Netflix!) have been so intentional about including me, and together, we’re all going to do our absolute best to make a series that you, the readers, will love.”
Henry ended the letter by telling readers, “I cannot WAIT to tell you more about this project and others, right here on my grocery list just as soon I’m given the green light. For now, though, I’m back to working on [REDACTED].”
As mentioned above, the film is being produced by Nuyorican, which is actress and singer Jennifer Lopez’s production company.
“We cannot wait to work with @emilyhenrywrites on her brilliant amazing novel #happyplace!!!” Lopez wrote on her Instagram Story.
What is ‘Happy Place’ about?
The bestselling book follows Harriet and Wyn, the perfect couple … until they’re not. Five months after they split, they attend their friend group’s annual trip to idyllic Maine, but no one knows they broke up. Harriet and Wyn concoct a plan and stay tight-lipped in an effort to not break their best friends’ hearts, too. After years together, surely they can spend one more week faking it … or can they?
At this point in time, it’s unclear if the TV show will have the same plot as the book.

When is the ‘Happy Place’ Netflix show coming out?
There is no set release date for the Happy Place Netflix show as of publication, as it is currently in pre-production.
However, fans of Henry’s will be happy to hear that her other books — Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation and Book Lovers — are also in the works to become films.
Henry does warn, however, that, “Things tend to move very slowly on this front, and even once they are moving, there are specific guidelines for when you’re able to share that information.”
